AN AMAZING TRUE LIFE STORY OF REINCARNATION. A MAN WITH TWO LIVES WHO REMEMBERS HIS PAST BIRTH.
PAST FORWARD. By Amrita Lamba. As is often said, sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction and talking to this author and reading her book, one cannot but be amazed at the mysteries of life. Amrita's father, Sardar Balbir Singh Uppal, who is now 96 years old, remembers every detail of his past life. The author has heard her father recount exact details of his past life as Lala Sunder Das , a businessman in the town of Dinga, in what is now Pakistan. She always felt it was a tremendous true story and once she decided to do the book, she spent many years verifying each detail of her father's past birth memories. She contacted the families of Lala Sunder Das according to names and addresses given by her father) and even they were convinced of her father's rebirth saga when he named people, recounted incidents and the slightest details of his life as Lala Sunder Das.
Lala Sunder Das had become a rich man as a trader supplying goods to the British army. One incident Sardar Balbir Singh recounted was that in his past birth, he as Lala Sunder Das had given orders that anybody who passed by his Haveli would get a gift of one Anna. HE also recounted that the Haveli had been built for the second wife of Lala Sunder Das and further, that he, as the Lala had been poisoned when he was 42 years old. Sardar Balbir Singh said that he died of poisoning and he was watching as a spirit when they took his body away. The sons of RB were also contacted by Amrita Lamba and they verified everything that Sardar Balbir Singh said. The second wife of RB came to India at Partition and lived in Mumbai.
All in all it is a fascinating true story of reincarnation and at the very tastefully done book launch at the India International Centre in Delhi, erudite scholars and experts spoke on reincarnation as they discussed this particular case. The book is presented with pictures of Sardar Balbir Singh in this as well as his past life, newspaper reports of the reincarnation story and details about the life of RB.
It is a most thoroughly researched book and it must be said that such true cases of reincarnation must be thoroughly investigated by scholars and scientists. That this is not done in India is a pity because the doubt and scepticism over reincarnation, on the one hand, and the strong belief in it on the other, continue as an unresolved mystery. A book such as this surely must inspire research and belief.

I finally finished reading 'Past Forward 1878 & Counting Reincarnation Memoir ' ... a very well researched book ... a sincere and most apt gift to a father by his loving daughter. Enjoyed reading it. I read a few pages a day to digest each and every word of it.
The story never gave me goosebumps but kept me captivated and fascinated and took me down the memory lane where I could hear the partition tales told by my grandparents and parents.
The bond between Kakkars and Chopras made me feel as if I was part it
Well Amrita , you deserve a big applause.

From Reel To Real. Very enlightening day. Attended a book launch of Past Forward in Delhi today. This above book by author Ms Amrita Uppal from Lucknow, is her 96-yr-old father Sardar Balbir Singh Uppal's reincarnation memoir. This book traces his previous life in Pakistan by inputs from people living in Pakistan who still remember him in his previous life. The launch was attended by present life and previous life members of the family. Amazing to hear and see the living proof of reincarnation with facts. Unbelievable Indeed!!
